Today 30th September 2024, Sports Interactive have announced the new era in the Football Manager series.

Football Manager 2025 has been a long time promised since June 2023, where Miles Jacobson announced that Football Manager 2025, FM25 Console and FM25 Touch will be the first Football Manager releases to use the Unity Engine.

Well again this is the setup in PC, but I definitely like this, it's certainly feels like more modern sports games, I like the fact they have removed the drop down menus for leagues and it looks like the much mooted tiles and cards system works really nicely here. Especially with the tiers on the left hand side and the 20 teams are in a grid.

INTRODUCING TILES AND CARDS

FM25’s new User Interface/User Experience features a "tile and card" system, with tiles as panels of information that come in various sizes or 'states'. Clicking into cards provides more detail, promoting exploration and depth in Football Manager. Below is an example of a tile, Player Form, in different states.

In the earlier FM25 Development, they provided previews of the new unity interface and the reaction on social media has been very split and some have been highly critical of it. Largely ignoring this information as developer screens,

I'm starting to sound like a broken record but I like this, everything is readable, plenty of tiles which don't feel overwhelming and overstimulating, they feel fresh and familiar, a lot has been made of the whether Football Manager 2025, is moving towards Console. But in truth this just looks like any other apps you get on a tablet.

SI have said they've had to review over 500 screens and I think this is hopefully shows yes they are moving engine but it still feels like FM at the heart.

Player Profiles

The PC version available to preorder on steam has given us a preview of the new interface and I for one quite like the familiarity of the setup but also simplicity and clean interface, given that Console cannot use skins I really like the base skin it feels a little sparse in areas which could be expanded upon as this is work in progress, but I really like this new interface.

Roadmap

Sport Interactive have provided the roadmap as per FM24 iteration, and the concerning part for most is the fact that there are no concrete set dates. But core gameplay is going to be documented over the next month.

The reason why there is no Console specific content, is because yet again the Console content is limited, and likely to be closer to the end of November 2024.
